The World Heritage Rainforest Centre operated by Tweed Tourism is situated in Budd Park in Alma Street on the eastern bank of the Tweed River. It is conveniently located just before the bridge entry to Murwillumbah’s CBD. Budd Park has picnic, toilet and barbecue facilities, a pontoon which is ideal for fishing or tying up the boat, and has a range of beautiful trees and shrubs. The Rainforest Centre provides tourist brochures and booklets for local and adjacent regions and is the source of information to the five world heritage-listed national parks which surround Murwillumbah. The centre features interactive geographic and flora and fauna models, appealing to kids and adults, as well as showing a feature documentary film in its mini cinema. The centre also shares its office space with the National Parks and Wildlife Service who can provide more detailed information about the national parks in the area. The centre says it is a one-stop shop for all tourist-related inquiries including houseboat hire, guided tours, accommodation, cruises, gemstone fossicking, maps and souvenirs.
